An Online Experiential Course through

The Hermes-Hestia Center for Living Astrologies

Creatively perceive and participate in the deeper stories that shape our lives and entwine our liberation.

‘Living the Signs of the Zodiac’

‘Living the Signs of the Zodiac’ is an online experiential astrology course series on the Elements.  Each course takes participants on in-depth, multi-sensory explorations of the myths and stories associated with signs of the Zodiac of a particular Element:  Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

In a small group setting (no more than 12 in each section), we engage the stories and images as they have been seen and shared across time, restoring a multidimensional and holographic experience of each sign beyond ‘keywords’ and traits.  We enter and participate in the stories directly through movement, art-making, dream, image, personal horoscope, and with the zodiac animals themselves.

Through direct lived experience you will come to understand the signs more multidimensionally: the range of stories, feelings, sensations, desires, dreams, action urges, and relational orientations they carry; and also, be a part of a re-dreaming and re-weaving of the myths and stories we so need in contemporary times.

Asteroid Goddesses as Tutelary Deities for the Elements

The asteroid goddesses become our tutelary deities – teachers who accompany our educational journey through the Element, where ‘education’ is lived as the Latin root of the word educare: “to bring forth that which is within.”

Their teaching does not come in the form of ‘here is what to do, and what not to do’; their guidance and education comes as a dynamic, responsive scaffolding that unfurls below, above, before and behind us, cradling and in-forming the gestation, birthing and development of fresh imagery and embodied re-tellings of primordial patterns, archetypes.

As we travel through the signs, the asteroid goddesses and their mythic roots draw us deeper into layers of time, body and place – offering nourishment, care and attention to what in us feels wounded by or recovering from one-sided tellings of the stories that shape our lives.  The goddesses remind us of the variegated landscape of myth, its myriad nooks and crannies where we might encounter and dwell with the irreducible unknowns of mystery, remembering how to be re-sourced by spaces of liminality that help us sense life through the periods of darkness and transition.

About the Course

The backbone of this course is the electrifying Signs in Myth & Psyche webinars with Jason Holley, which open up the mythic hologram and characters of each zodiacal sign. In our journey through Air, you’ll meet Ganymede the cupbearer, the twins Castor and Pollux as well as Helen and Clytemnestra, and the ancient Titaness and Earth Mother Themis, to name a few.

To get a further sense of the work, here are the links with descriptions:

Additional resources are broad in range, deep and expansive in scope. We will be drawing on cultural theorists, visionary writers and speakers, Jungian and astrological elders such as Tyson Yunkaporta, Donna Haraway, Jayna Brown and Brian Clarke, amongst others.

While attending to this medium in which we all are always embedded, by which our minds are ever-informed and inextricably embedded, we can together discover what creative possibilities, perceptions and ontological sovereignty open up when we find ourselves outside of given categories and expectations.
